Alex had seen this happen before when someone had died of shock in front of him and he had been unfortunate enough to be present. Wendy had stepped back in disguised at what she had done and Alex himself had only just managed to control the vomit from coming up from his stomach.

Wendy’s voice broke the silence, it was strained and shaky, Alex could tell by the way it trembled that she was obviously in a state of shook.

“ I take it he’s dead then, for once in my life I appear to have managed to do a job that’s completely against my nature properly or did I ? “

Alex went over and put an arm around her, he led her over to the settee as he spoke.

Stricker had been to fetch a sheet and was placing it over Trevor’s body, listening but making out not to be.

Alex was uncertain of just what to say and was trying desperately to comfort her as best he could.

Stricker continued to remain silent waiting for them to sort themselves out, God only knows how, the last thing that Stricker had expected was for Wendy to kill off the son that she had so obviously idolised since he could remember.

“Yes, he’s dead now love, but I’m not quite sure what made you do it, I take it that you have been opening the post that was addressed for me, you see I cannot think of anything else that could have had such a drastic affect on your feelings towards Trevor, not to that extent at any rate.

Wendy’s eyes glazed over with tears. She had done this and she felt hurt, numb all over from the shock of the experience. It had felt to her as if she had been chopping off her right arm, only far worse. She hadn’t thought it possible that she was capable of doing what she had done, yet she knew it was a reality; Trevor was dead by her own hand, her beautiful baby boy that had turned into such a monster, just how this could have happened she wondered to herself.

“I am so sorry Alex, I didn’t intend to poke my nose into your mail, but the package did look rather interesting and you never tell me the full story when anything is going on. I know you only ever want to save me any pain but then you always have tried to shelter me. Haven’t you my love? Still I don’t think you’ll need to shelter me again.’ What do you get for cold blooded murder these days anyway? “

“Look Wendy, there really isn’t any need for you to go to jail at all, for that matter we do not need to involve the police. It might well be better if I got this thing out sorted out for you. You just say what you want me to do; the only thing that’s lost by not calling the police is that it could mean that our son might not be buried in hallowed ground. You’ve got to make up your mind what you want done, as there won’t be time to do things cleanly otherwise. “

Wendy didn’t have to think about what she wanted to do for any length of time, she knew Trevor hadn’t worried or cared about how he would have them murdered for his own ends, so why should she.

Alex knew he’d always tried to shelter Wendy, he’d always loved her dearly; he knew she’d killed Trevor to save him from being put into a compromising situation.

Wendy had always been a pacifist and Alex knew he would have to choose his words carefully, she could have some form of a breakdown if he said the wrong thing .She should not take the rap as Trevor was planning to murder them both so really in his mind it was a type of self defence rather than murder.

Wendy was of the opinion that Trevor didn’t deserve being buried in church grounds as he had become a hardened killer, and was more than, likely on his way to hell right at that very moment in time so it wouldn’t really matter were his body ended up, the little boy she had loved was long gone.

She told Alex how she felt and he agreed it was the only thing to do.

Alex contacted Ray Colt and informed him that there would not be any more hassle as he had killed off his son or rather his own mother had done the job herself, when she had discovered what nasty tricks he had been up to and had planned for their future.

Ray was in two minds as to whether or not to believe Alex, although he knew that Alex had never lied to him, but he knew how Wendy felt about their son.

When Alex stated that Trevor’s body was on its way out in the boot of Strickers car from Zaneen’s mansion for them to dispose of as they saw fit, Ray felt shocked as he realised that it was true. Wendy who was a total pacifist had murdered her own of her own flesh and blood; still he knew stranger things had happened, though he didn’t think he had heard anything stranger.

Zaneen contacted Simon Peters and told him to expect Stricker and what to do with Trevor Sutton’s body.

Simon couldn’t resist saying how surprised he was at Zaneen’s news.

Zaneen pointed out that it had saved them a job, one that could have held a considerable amount of unforeseen trouble, had they had to do the job themselves.

When the conversation ended Zaneen wondered how long things would remain peaceful or if the feud would start up again, over something trivial as it had before.

While all of this was going on Trevor took Wendy to the bedroom, and they lay down on the bed crying softly together. Trevor lay behind Wendy spooning her, tenderly stroking her forehead to comfort her and as usual one thing led to another. Trevor needed her to know that he still loved her and understood why she had done what she felt she had to. In return Wendy needed him to know that she still loved him above all else. Comforting each other in this way brought them closer together than ever before.

  EPILOGUE.

The earth set with a bright red sun perfectly rounded glowing in the sky as it gradually went cut out of sight behind cliffs, edge at the end of Melve beach and as Paul and Zaneen galloped their horses through the water’s edge, real love in their hearts as they left behind them only the hoof prints of their horses hooves alone with the paw marks of Tarbra’s pads as she followed closely behind Zaneen’s horse devoted and loyal Tarbra as ever.

Zaneen noticed the rain like patterns from the spray off their hooves, thinking how wonderful the things closer to nature could be, she looked forward patting her stomach with hope in her heart for a better life for one and all.

It is not for you or I to know if they’ll make it to the end of their earthrise, only God knows the answer. The pitfalls of man are there for all.

Only the animals know the answer to true peace of mind as most humans are too blind to see. The End.
